While peppermint oil’s uplifting, fresh, and minty aroma is familiar and pleasant to most, it’s actually an effective repellent for bugs.
When using peppermint essential oil for bugs, apply it to cotton balls and leave them throughout your home, wherever you notice bugs appearing. Diluted peppermint oil can also be sprayed directly on your body or clothes, providing personal protection against bugs, like mosquitos and ticks.
You can use peppermint essential oil for bugs outside as well. Simply apply a diluted spray around the outside perimeter of your home, around your windows, and in any corners where spiders, wasps, or other pests may be hiding.
Of course, peppermint oil is effective as more than a bug repellent. It can also promote hair growth and enhance alertness in humans. But if you’re looking to repel bugs naturally and prevent infestations, peppermint essential oil is a wonderful option for both you and your home.
Though this product is formulated to be safe and effective on all types of skin, we recommend spot-testing on a small area before wider use.
Ready to Use Blend
To use peppermint oil as a bug repellent, apply directly to skin either with a cotton ball or in a mixture of water. This blend is safe for immediate use and doesn't need to be mixed with a carrier oil.
Mix with Carrier Oil
For best results, mix this formula with a carrier oil before using. To use as a bug repellent, mix one parts oil with 3 parts carrier oil and apply to skin. Alternatively, add the mixture to a spray bottle with water and apply.
